WOMEC Showcases Evidence-Based Action on Nutrition at the 2025 Maternal & Child Health Nutrition Conference

Women Media and Change (WOMEC) made a strong contribution to national conversations on maternal and child health by presenting an abstract from the Nourish Ghana: Advocating for Increased Leadership to Combat Malnutrition Project at the 2025 Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) Conference.

Our abstract was selected for both oral and poster presentations, a highly competitive process that reflects the quality, relevance, and scientific merit of WOMEC’s work. The conference, organised by the Family Health Division of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) from 25th to 27th November 2025, brought together policymakers, researchers, development partners, civil society organisations, nutrition specialists, and health practitioners from across Ghana.

Represented by Ms. Dorothy Fosu, the projects Officer, WOMEC’s presentation highlighted the critical role of media engagement and journalists as nutrition champions, demonstrating how strategic communication and advocacy can strengthen leadership and accountability in the fight against malnutrition. The discussion showcased how evidence generated through the Nourish Ghana Project is helping to bridge the gap between research, policy, and public awareness.

The recognition of the project at this national platform confirms that the Nourish Ghana initiative is not only generating measurable impact at the community level, but is also contributing credible, policy-relevant evidence to national efforts to address malnutrition among women and children.

WOMEC acknowledges the Eleanor Crook Foundation for its generous support, which made the Nourish Ghana Project possible. This partnership underscores the importance of investing in evidence-based advocacy to strengthen nutrition leadership and improve maternal and child health outcomes in Ghana.

Through platforms such as the MCHN Conference, WOMEC continues to amplify evidence, strengthen partnerships, and support sustainable solutions to malnutrition nationwide.
