WOMEC Facilitates High-Level Courtesy Meeting Between Eleanor Crook Foundation and National Development Planning Commission

Women, Media and Change (WOMEC) facilitated a high-level courtesy meeting between the Chief Executive Officer of the Eleanor Crook Foundation (ECF), Mr. William Moore, and the leadership of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), held at the premises of NDPC in Accra.

The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration on addressing malnutrition and advancing sustainable nutrition financing in Ghana. It provided a strategic platform for key stakeholders to exchange perspectives on the country’s development priorities and explore partnerships capable of accelerating progress toward improved nutrition and human capital outcomes.

Crucially, the high-level engagement brought together a diverse coalition of influential actors, including distinguished Parliamentarians, alongside leadership and representatives from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and members of academia.

The Eleanor Crook Foundation, a globally recognized philanthropic organization dedicated to ending malnutrition and improving the health and well-being of women and children, continues to support Ghana through the “Nourish Ghana: Advocating for Increased Leadership to Combat Malnutrition” project, implemented by WOMEC. The initiative seeks to strengthen nutrition advocacy, promote accountability, and increase sustainable investments in nutrition across the country.

During the discussions, participants emphasized the absolute necessity of deeply integrating nutrition into Ghana’s national development agenda. The strategic presence of Parliamentarians and multi-sectoral stakeholders highlighted a shared commitment to establishing strong legislative backing and synchronized action across health delivery, social protection financing, agricultural systems, and academic research to address the root causes of malnutrition.

The courtesy meeting further reinforced the collective commitment of the Eleanor Crook Foundation, WOMEC, lawmakers, state institutions, international development partners, and academia to supporting evidence-based policies, mobilizing domestic and international resources, and fostering the exact partnerships needed to improve nutrition outcomes, particularly for women and children.

WOMEC remains committed to working alongside government institutions, legislators, development partners, and key stakeholders to promote continuous policy dialogue, strengthen national accountability, and advocate for increased investment in nutrition as a fundamental pillar for Ghana’s sustainable development.
