Women Media and Change (WOMEC) has had discussions with the Women Banking Unit of Access Bank on possible areas of collaboration. The meeting, which took place in the offices of WOMEC on Friday, September 2, 2022, discussed projects that the two institutions could jointly carry out that would impact positively on the lives of young girls and women. The from Access Bank was led by Madam Josephine Eva Arthur, Zonal Head, Retail Banking, Charity Ahadzie, Team Lead, Women Banking Unit and Edna Mensah, Team Member, Women Banking Unit. WOMEC was represented by Dr. Charity Binka, Executive Director, Isaac Nyampong, WOMEC Board Member, Dulcie Delali Attipoe, Programmes Coordinator, Christopher Aguddey, Finance and Administrative Officer and Larry Adam, Communication Officer.
In her remarks, Dr. Binka, said WOMEC is committed to creating spaces for women and girls to speak up and to claim their rights. She noted that over the 22 years of the existence of the organisation, it has undertaken several projects that were aimed at empowering women and girls and to promote gender equality. She expressed gratitude for the visit. On her part, Madam Arthur, on her part, explained that the Women Banking Unit was set up to, among others, address the financial needs of women at different stages of their lives. She noted that women need financial access to improve their lives and become empowered. The Unit has therefore developed several financial packages that seek to address the financial needs of young women professionals, women in business, individuals, and dependents.
