She in Media (SIM) Mentorship Program is an initiative by the Women Media and Change (WOMEC) organization. The SIM program is aimed at empowering young upcoming and practicing female journalists to excel in the ever-evolving media landscape. Grounded in the belief that diverse voices and perspectives are essential for a vibrant and inclusive media ecosystem in Ghana, the SIM Program seeks to provide tailored support, mentorship, and opportunities for aspiring young women journalists.
Objectives
- Mentorship: provide mentorship to upcoming female journalist by seasoned journalist or media professional who have embraced the odds of journalism with remarkable achivement.
- Skill Enhancement: Offer a series of workshops, training sessions, and hands-on experiences to enhance participants’ journalistic skills, including writing, reporting, storytelling, multimedia production, and digital media literacy.
- Empowering Women in Media: Create a supportive community where young female journalists can build confidence, strengthen their skills, and navigate career pathways in the media industry with guidance from experienced mentors.
- Networking and Collaboration: Facilitate networking opportunities, industry meetups, and collaborative projects to foster connections among participants, mentors, and media organizations, creating a supportive community for learning and growth.
- Community Engagement: Encourage participants to use their journalistic skills for social impact, amplifying underrepresented voices, addressing pressing issues, and contributing positively to their communities through impactful storytelling and advocacy.
